Last weekend, on February 22 and 23, we participated in the 5th Olive Festival in Zagreb, held at the Westin Hotel. As last year, the festival was divided into two parts: the competition part and the traditional exhibition part.
217 olive oil samples from Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina were included in the competition, of which 102 monovarietal, 114 blended and 26 eco-cultivated oils.
The awards ceremony for the best oils, according to the sensory and chemical analysis, was held on Friday evening, February 21.
Among the awarded extra virgin olive oils was also RHEOS with three gold medals for: RHEOS Premium Blend, RHEOS Leccino (monovarietal) and RHEOS Istarska Bjelica (monovarietal).
The next two days were intended for visitors and for olive oils lovers. There were also different cheese, wines and herbal liqueurs manufacturers. Also, for those who wanted to learn something more, the festival offered an extremely rich accompanying program with many workshops.
Each year the festival attracts more and more people from Zagreb and visitors from all over Croatia and neighboring countries, and more and more people who are aware of the nutritional and health benefits of olives and olive oil.
